U.S. Customs and Border Protection enforces the tariff, dozens of other agencies' import rules, and the intellectual property laws at the border. It also seizes goods and money. Most of what the firm does touches CBP in some way.
The firm has a particular relationship with customs brokers. Neil Mooney has held a Customs broker's license since 1978 and ran a brokerage for fourteen years before law school. When a broker meets a grey area, such as an ambiguous classification, a rules-of-origin question or a sudden penalty notice, the firm prepares the ruling request, files the protest, or takes over the defense of the audit or enforcement action.
